Occupational Therapist Jobs description
An occupational therapist helps patients with limited abilities to lead productive and independent lives. It is an occupational therapist’s responsibility to help patients with physical, mental and developmental problems to recover and maintain the ability to complete daily functions and tasks on their own.Occupational therapists work with a variety of patients like children, elderly clients, people with permanent disabilities, mentally challenged individuals, etc. It is the duty of an occupational therapist to help the patient to master daily activities like eating, bathing, dressing, etc. Recording, evaluating and assessing a patient’s activities and progress are also an important part of an occupational therapist’s job. Occupational therapists may also work with drug addicts, alcoholics and people suffering from depression and eating disorders.
An applicant for an occupational therapist job must possess a master’s degree in occupational therapy. A valid license and supervised fieldwork experience may also be required. Patience, effective interpersonal skills and ability to adapt situations to individual needs are also other important skills required by an occupational therapist.
