Clinical Nurse Jobs description

A clinical nurse nurses patients in the institution hospital or clinics and at times in specific areas e.g. psychiatric, operating room, orthopedics, geriatrics, etc. A clinical nurse assesses patient condition, progress and behavior (some patients may display suicidal or homicidal tendencies) on regular basis and inform the physician accordingly. A clinical nurse should refer the patient to a nutritionist if needed. A clinical nurse should follow the infection control policies and procedures very strictly. She should administer treatment with accuracy, attention, patient care, and comfort.

A clinical nurse should maintain an accurate inventory of all needles, syringes, and medications. Duties include ensuring that proper hygiene is maintained in the patient area and that only disposable parenterel is used. Keeping an updated case sheet of patient condition and progress and document the administration of the medicines prescribed may also be required. A clinical nurse should possess a thorough knowledge of the side effects, contraindications, and adverse reactions of all the drugs and parenterel administered.

A clinical nurse should have an accredited degree or diploma in nursing. She should be empathic, patient, and very adaptive.
