Assistant Physical Therapist Jobs description
A physical therapy assistant assists the physical therapist in assessment, treatment, program planning, and its implementation. A physical therapy assistant works under the supervision of a physical therapist in all practice settings. When treating patients in the absence of the physical therapist, a physical therapy assistant should always remain accessible to the physical therapist. Responsibilities include evaluating a patient’s condition and performance on a regular basis, and documenting the treatment given. A physical therapy assistant should discuss the case histories of the patients regularly with the physical therapist. In case an assistant feels the need for a reevaluation or change in treatment administered to the patient in the absence of the physical therapist, a physical therapy assistant should inform the latter immediately and administer a different line of treatment only if advised. A physical therapy assistant assists in preparation for treatment, during treatment and at the conclusion of treatment, and also assembles and disassembles equipment and accessories.A physical therapy assistant should hold an accredited physical therapy assistant associate degree.
