Assists with patient care activities under the direction of the LD-RN-Surgical Services. 2. Functions as a member of the surgical team fulfilling the scrub role. a. Anticipates, plans and organizes supply and equipment needs for each assigned surgical procedure in a timely manner. b. Utilizes physician preferences to assemble needed equipment and supplies. c. Prepares and sets up the sterile field. d. Participates in the surgical procedure by anticipating needs, passing instruments, suture, sponges, supplies etc. e. Follows departmental procedure for all sponge, sharp and instrument counts. f. Performs end of procedure tasks and environmental sanitation according to established policy and procedure. g. Returns unused supplies and equipment to proper storage areas. 3. Anticipates usual and unexpected events during the surgical procedure and responds in an efficient manner. 4. Applies the principles of asepsis in a knowledgeable manner to provide optimum patient care. 5. Maintains equipment in proper functioning order. Orders supplies as needed. 6. Handles and processes surgical specimens according to established policy/procedure. 7. Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department. ','!*!Qualifications:ExperiencePrevious OR experience preferred.CST preferred.Other relevant medical/surgical experiences will be consideredEducation/LicensureRequired:Certified Surgical Tech or eligibility for certification within one year of hire or Completion of a Licensed Practical Nurse Training program in an accredited institution. Must have a Current LPN License in Nebraska or Iowa, Nebraska and Iowa are compact states, so license must be held in the state of your residence.OR scrub experience preferred.Consideration will also be given to relevant medical training and operating room experience.BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say “Professional Level-with AED”, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
