REHAB AIDE - PHYSICAL THERAPY - FULL TIME','Full-time','Clinical Support','FULL TIME','FULL TIME','80','80','Occasional','Occasional','ARKANSAS-LITTLE ROCK-ST VINCENT INFIRMARY','','!*!JOB SUMMARY: In accordance with our mission and core values, the rehabilitation services therapy tech and UDS/PPS Specialist will transport, transfer, and prepare patients for treatment in Acute Rehabilitation Services or on the unit.  They will administer modalities, teach transfers, assist with and monitor direct patient treatment under the supervision of the therapist or therapist assistants.


1. Prepares patient for and performs transfers, transport, mobility or patient care/therapy procedures

Prepares area, equipment, supplies and patient for transfer, mobility or therapy procedure/treatment.

Follows special instructions on treatment plan or as provided by therapist or nursing.

Assist with or performs transfer, mobility activity or therapy procedure/treatment as directed by the therapist, therapist assistant or nursing.

Monitors patient response to treatments; reports to therapist or nursing.

Determines need for and properly implements safety measures for the patient, during and following treatment/activity.

Responds to urgent situations appropriately and quickly.

Adjusts level of assistance to the patient’s ability/level of independence; encourages independence.

Utilizes proper body mechanics necessary to insure personal safety and patient safety during patient/material handling.

Demonstrates understanding of proper body alignment, special precautions and weight bearing status.

Maintains a safe environment, follows OSHA requirements including universal precautions.

Handles special equipment safely and correctly during transfer/transport/activity/therapy.

 

2.  Completes records and documentation according to departmental policy

Records patient treatment, transfer, or activity on the log sheet or schedule board and/or the charge record accurately and in a timely manner.   

Documents low inventory levels for supplies

As assigned, documents refrigerator, hot pack and cold pack machine temperatures.

Updates treatment cards and schedule board indicating treatment changes.

As assigned, compiles chart packets.

 

3. Communicates appropriately with patients, families, co-workers, team members, and other customers

Introduces self to others in a professional manner.

Adheres to the dress code and maintains a professional image.  Clearly displays ID badge.

Offers assistance and provides directions to customers in a positive and courteous manner.

Notifies the therapist or nursing of changes in patient’s condition-improvements, progress, regression, or transfer/mobility/treatment tolerance.

Speaks clearly and distinctly when giving instructions or answering questions.

Communicates effectively with team members.

 

4. Provides care according to the patient’s developmental age

Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to adjust to the patient/customer’s age and level of understanding, including child, adolescent, adult and older adult.

 

5. Demonstrates appropriate attendance, reliability and time management.

Adheres to time and attendance policy

Available and accessible when on duty.

Seeks additional work upon completion of assigned duties.

Efficiently uses time before, after and in between patients to accomplish other duties.

Demonstrates ability to work independently and is accountable for time/work load.

 ','!*!MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
 
Education:       High School Graduate or equivalent
 
Experience:      Six months of supervised patient care experience preferably in rehab therapy setting
OR
Certified Nursing Assistant with experience in patient care.
 
Physical Requirements:  Must possess ability to walk, balance, climb, crawl, crouch, grasp, kneel, lift, push, pull, reach, stand and stoop.  Must be able to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs, and push/pull weights up to 150 lbs. Must possess ability to see, hear, smell, and speak.    Individuals in this position could possibly be exposed to inside/outside environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens and body fluids, chemical and radiological hazards. 
 
Skills:    Must possess demonstrated communication skills, excellent customer service skills and the ability to deal effectively with multi disciplinary team members, patients, patient’s family members and physicians.
