Assistive equipment may not be available in many homes so when lifting patients, the proper way of handling patients should be done without over exerting yourself. Care givers also empty bedpans, change linens and change diapers. A home care aide should have tolerance in demanding patients as they often are. Aides’ also should be patients that are clean and ready to help. They have the options to work on the weekends or part time.

Home care aides should have a formal training and a test to work in a hospice. For home care aides, they should follow requirements depending on the state regulations. The educational attainment is not a requirement; however, training is an important part of the hiring process. They are trained on changing linens, cooking a special meal, basic housekeeping tasks, sanitation, CPR, and other first side techniques. An evaluation is required for a caregiver to determine competency.

Home health jobs have a very good employment outlook. Every year, more than a million workers are employed in hospices, individuals, and agencies.

The home health median hourly wage varies from $11 to $14 dollars while the home aide is from $10 to $13 dollars. These wages differ from industry to industry. Most workers are hired for a few hours a day and work for many clients in a day and some are on call workers only.
