An occupational therapist helps patients with limited abilities to lead productive and independent lives. It is an occupational therapist’s responsibility to help patients with physical, mental and developmental problems to recover and maintain the ability to complete daily functions and tasks on their own.

An applicant for an occupational therapist job must possess a master’s degree in occupational therapy. A valid license and supervised fieldwork experience may also be required. Patience, effective interpersonal skills and ability to adapt situations to individual needs are also other important skills required by an occupational therapist.
