Home health care can be defined as the health care provided in the patient's home by healthcare professionals. This consists of nursing and medical care under the supervision of a physician.
A clinical manager in the home health care job category supervises his team working at the patient’s home. A clinical manager monitors and evaluates their performance ensuring that they are competent and work in accordance with the program and policies. A home health care nurse functions under the direction of the physician. A home health care nurse should possess a thorough knowledge of the side effects, contraindications, and adverse reactions of all the drugs and parenterel administered and should record and document the patient’s health status on a regular basis. A home health care nurse should be experienced in nursing treatment of acutely and chronically ill patient. A home health homemaker or aide takes care of the elderly, ill, or disabled people. Such positions provide housekeeping services; help the patients perform their basic and daily routine activities such as bathing and dressing; keep daily record of the pulse, temperature, and helps patients perform exercises as advised by the physician. A home health care homemaker or aide also accompanies the patients outside his home as a guide.
