Assistant Physical Therapist Jobs
A physical therapy assistant assists the physical therapist in assessment, treatment, program planning, and its implementation. A physical therapy assistant works under the supervision of a physical therapist in all practice settings. When treating patients in the absence of the physical therapist, a physical therapy assistant should always remain accessible to the physical therapist. Responsibilities include evaluating a patient’s condition and performance on a regular basis, and documenting the treatment given. In case an assistant feels the need for a reevaluation or change in treatment administered to the patient in the absence of the physical therapist, a physical therapy assistant should inform the latter immediately and administer a different line of treatment only if advised. A physical therapy assistant assists in preparation for treatment, during treatment and at the conclusion of treatment, and also assembles and disassembles equipment and accessories.
A physical therapy assistant should hold an accredited physical therapy assistant associate degree.
